About the Artist

Tina Martinez, fiber artist My name is Tina Martinez, and I live in the gorgeous valley of the Catskill Mountains in Upstate NY. I'm in my late twenties (gah!) and I'm married to a wonderful slightly older man. ;) I'm Puerto Rican, and come from what can best be described as "immigrant roots". My grandparents and parents are all very frugal and self-motivated, and have instilled in me the desire and capability to make what I need myself if possible, do it well, and as cost effectively as possible. I translate all that stiff-upperlip-ness into “oooh… pretty colors!” and craftyness.

I have a passion for knitting, spinning, and dyeing yarn, and if I could make my own gourmet chocolate I would! I read constantly and love getting together with my knitting friends every Tuesday night.  I also am an enthusiastic digital photographer. You can see my work here: www.lunassa.deviantart.com

My husband wisely tolerates my craftyness and hides in his computer room when I'm cursing at my knitting. My idea of heaven is the NY Sheep & Wool show at Rhinebeck. I firmly maintain that Alpaca, upon my first stroking of that gloried fiber, is wonderful enough to want to roll around naked in.
